13 Lined Ground Squirrel
13 lined ground squirrel (Spermiphilus tridecemlineatus) on our patio today eating one of our cherry tomatoes. He (She?) ate some thyme first-right from the pot. Good life for a ground squirrel. The boys & I found a very wet, barely alive ground squirrel Sunday. It had obviously been half drowned from all the rain and seemed to be barely coherent and hardly breathing. It was laying on its side and didn't move when we approached it. So...we put some bird seed just in front of it so it would have some food right away if it dried out and survived. When I went to check on it the next morning, the ground squirrel and bird food were gone-so I suspect that it dried out and made it back to its burrow.

Finally Some New Stuff
It's been quite some time, but I've put some new pics of the boys up. I'll be getting more up soon showing them during their birthday party, playing on their water slide with friends and on their first day of school, among others.
Looking forward to your comments.

Boys join the band
More from Rawhide
More pics from Rawhide
A couple of the characters. First, here's one of the sheriffs. He had a gunfight immediately upon the place opening. The boys thought it was loud but really cool. And then here's a pic of one of the characters involved in a gunfight. Notice the margarita bar behind him. Lots of smoke comes out of those old Colts.

Rawhide AZ Jan 2008
We stopped at Rawhide in Chandler, Az this past weekend while in Phoenix for a long weekend. Rawhide is a wild west town that has shootouts, burro rides (as you can see here), panning for gold (I'm rich Maw!) and a margarita bar. Guess the wild west was fueled on tequila from an outdoor bar. The boys had a great time since guns were involved. They ran around like maniacs, met some new friends, played with the band, and generally tore up the place.
